Matthias Church also known as the church of our lady is a Roman Catholic church located in Holy Trinity Square at the heart of Buda’s Castle District just in front of Fisherman’s Bastion.

In the Turkish era of 1541-1699, the church served as a mosque and later underwent restoration in the Baroque style.

Matthias Church is the most popular Roman Catholic temple in Budapest. It is located in the heart of the castle District.

There is even a museum of ecclesiastical art in the crypt found in the medieval church. Here, you can see relics, stone carvings, and replicas of the Hungarian crown jewels.

St Stephen Basilica church is named after Saint Stephen of Hungary (975-1038). The St Stephen Basilica is the third-highest church in Hungary and one of the most prominent tourist attractions.

The construction of St Stephen’s Basilica was completed in 1905, but it was rebuilt in 1868 when a storm caused a dome to collapse.

After world war 2, most of the church’s external walls were damaged, and its precious mosaics fell to the ground. Within the chapel to the left of the high altar, the church’s patron saint, the first king of Hungary, has his mummified right hand displayed under glass.

Visitors can also take a 360 view of the city by taking an elevator that will take visitors to Cupula.

Margaret island is located in the middle of the Danube between Margaret Bridge and Árpád Bridge is one of the famous tourist attractions in Budapest.

Visitors who love to chill and hang out will love this place as this place has a lot of benches, jogging tracks, bike rentals to explore, eating at the restaurant. and also has a place for riding bicycles.

Budapest’s Fisherman bastion, built between 1895 and 1902, was an observation tower for full panoramic views over Budapest and one of the popular tourist attractions in Budapest.

The Fisherman’s Bastion resembles the logo of Walt Disney, and the seven high-pitched stone towers are said to represent the seven Hungarian chieftains who founded Hungary in 895.

Visitors can also visit the cafe shop which is located on the terrace. There is also a chapel inside Fisherman bastion.

Hungarian Parliament also known as Budapest Parliament is one of the most iconic and beautiful destinations in Budapest situated on the banks of the Danube river.

The Hungarian Parliament construction was finished in 1902 and was designed in Gothic Revival style marks the country’s 1,000th anniversary.

Visitors can explore inside of the building when the assembly sessions are not being held. The Hungarian Parliament contains 600 rooms, making it the third-largest Parliament building in the world.

The Museum of Fine Arts was constructed between 1900 and 1906 and is divided into six sections: Egyptian, Antiquities, Antiques, Old Sculpture Gallery, Old Master Gallery, Modern collection, Graphics collection.

In a stunning, classically influenced 19th-century building, the collection includes an extensive array of Italian, Spanish, and Dutch paintings, cabinet storage for smaller objects, and architecturally interesting spaces like the Renaissance Hall.

Also, check out the old master collection located on the first floor which has beautiful paintings and European sculptures on the second floor which has some wonderful pieces, including the fascinating work of Franz Xaver Messerschmidt.

The central market hall is also known as Greenmarket hall ( “Nagyvásárcsarnok”) is one of the largest and oldest markets in Budapest.

World War II severely damaged the market and resulted in it deteriorating for a long time. In 1991, it underwent renovations and was brought back to its original condition.

Several butcher shops, fishmongers, and pickled vegetable stalls are located in the basement. The ground floor features food stalls selling meat, pastries, spices, and candies.

Restaurants and tourist souvenirs are located on the second mezzanine floor. 

Vajdahunyad Castle

One of the most popular tourist attractions in Budapest is Vajdahunyad Castle, often referred to as the romantic castle of Budapest. Vajdahunyad Castle was built in 1896 as part of the Millennial Exhibition in City Park.

Numerous events are held at the castle, including festivals, concerts, and exhibits of the Hungarian Agricultural Museum. Be sure to check out Miklós Ligeti’s Anonymus statue (displayed in the castle court).
