According to archaeologists’ predictions pyramids of Egypt, were constructed 4,500 years ago. Pharaoh Khufu started the construction of the first Giza pyramid project in 2550 B.C.

1. Great Pyramid of Giza

This great pyramid of Giza Egypt is the largest in Giza, and its height approx 481 feet (147meters). This ancient monument is one of the most famous tourist attractions in the world.

Every stone block of this pyramid is, estimated at around 2.3 million and, every block weighs approx 2.5 tons to 15tons. 100,000 men worked on its construction for three months every year.

2. Pyramid of Khafre (Chephren)

The second pyramid was constructed in 2520 B.C by Khufu’s son Pharaoh Khafre. The pyramid of Khafre is the second tallest pyramid with a height of 135.5 meters and a base variant of 210.5 meters.

The bottom course of casing stones was constructed out of pink granite but, the remainder of the pyramid was cased in Tura limestone.

3. Pyramid of Menkuare

The third pyramid of Giza was built in 2490 B.C by pharaoh Menkuare. The third pyramid is smaller than the first two. The pyramid of Menkuare has a height of 62 meters and a base measurement of 108 meters.

This pyramid was constructed of limestone and Aswan granite.

4. Sphinx

Sphinx is one of the beautiful ancient monuments and most iconic tourist attractions. Sphinx resembles a body of a lion and the face of a pharaoh.

The Sphinx had suffered a lot due to weathering and, mutilation over the centuries. As a result, the nose was cut off and a small piece of the fallen beard is now in the British Museum. Although, the Sphinx festival is one of the most important festivals in Egypt.

These five days festival helps people to understand the ancient culture attracts a lot of tourists. The Sphinx festival takes place in June.

5. Solar boat museum

Khufu’s ship, also known as Solar boat today, is kept in the Solar boat museum. The boat was discovered again in 1954 near the great pyramid of Giza by Kamal el Mallakh.

An ancient 4,600-year-old boat was reconstructed from 1,224 pieces, making it one of the oldest boats in the world.

The exact history and purpose of the boat are unknown either The vessel was used for the solar barque, a vessel to take resurrected kings and the sun god across the heavens or the other possibility is it is believed that the ship was either a funerary barge carrying the embalmed body of a king between Memphis and Giza.

7. Saqqara

Saqqara is one of the oldest and royal graveyards of Egyptian kings. A funerary monument was built at Saqqara in honor of the last king of the Second Dynasty, Khasekhemwy, who is buried in his tomb at Abydos. Many of Saqqara’s pyramids are of world-renowned significance, including the Step pyramid of Djoser.

Best time to visit the pyramids 

Although the pyramids are beautiful all year round when it comes to visiting the pyramids, the best time is from October to March when the weather is pleasant.

You can visit the pyramids by Taxi, Uber, Bus or private car. The location where the transport vehicle dropped you can be reached either by camel rental or by horse rental, or it is an 8 to 10-minute walk from the location where the transport vehicle dropped you off.
